1995-2010

The year was 1995 and the ex-cyclist Stefano Giuliani was in a meeting with his team, Tollo wine shop, at the Club Santa Cristiana in Marcelli of Numana.
One evening, talking to the manager of that structure, Andrea Marra, he got the idea to organize a great long-distance in order to fill said club during the low season. A good 400 participants responded well to the idea.
Due to commitments, Stefano Giuliani after the first experience leaves the technical direction that was given to Malizia Marcello.
Soon Malizia Marcello, who came from road racing, tries to create an event from a race.
“We quickly realized – Malizia says - that in the long-distance there is the wish to be together, to have fun, to celebrate. Indeed, from the beginning, we wanted to create a folk festival where never-seen-before people made friends by cycling and sweating side by side, with a single purpose, to cycle and freely riding without a hurry.
From here, with an exciting progression, cyclists and non-cyclists increase and many people are added to the organizational staff to pilot an event that is new and different in every edition but “each year it makes us grow an emotion inside by taking us back in time” – Malizia says .
“Our greatest satisfaction – Malizia comments – is to see all these people happily riding, all together, all friends, maybe just for one day, without any distinction of race, nationality, political or religious belief”.
Now the GRAN FONDO DEL CONERO is also CINELLI, it is ANDREA TONTI, it is CONERO FITNESS, it is THE 500’s CAR RACE, VINTAGE CARS, it is MARCHES CYCLING AWARD, it is CONVENTIONS, it is EXPOSITIONS, it is DIFFERENTLY ABLED PERSONS cycling along with ABLED PERSONS, it is … PASSION made of true and colorful emotions, the one that shines from your faces and fills Our hearts by giving us the greatest thank you we ever had.

Ancona, on Sunday morning of March 14th , thousands of people ready for the start of the GRAN FONDO DEL CONERO CINELLI 2010. The colorful “snake” outlined by competitors surges first along the large straight road of Corso Garibaldi.
A magnificent scene, which has been recurring for decades and it always makes people gasp when they see it for the first time. A unique day for Ancona, which for a few hours seems to lose its aplomb and its proverbial hurry to be conquered by a peaceful army with bicycle and shirt. The GRAN FONDO DEL CONERO CINELLI - appointment of amateur long-distance cycling and one of the most famous of middle-southern Adriatic – can always amaze us too. We organize it and, for 12 months our wish, as a nail stuck in our head, is to be more efficient than the previous year in order to give you an event that makes you proud to be protagonist. And we judge how well we are doing by how wide your smiles are, by your cheerful sportsmanship, by your pleasure to come back and be the true street masters, even though it is for a few hours and in spite of the traffic and the daily frenzy. Thirty minutes later, another meeting in Corso Garibaldi and a new group departure. This time it’s the turn of the young and the very young people involved in the GRANFONDINA, ideal springboard to enter children into a healthy and enjoyable relationship with the race and sport in general. Without any excess and without any worry for the result, just like the cyclists who already left at 7.30 a.m. “without a hurry” but with the awareness of living a day of sport and cheerfulness. The GRAN FONDO DEL CONERO AGONISTICS, with only two routes of 90 Km and 135 Km, reached almost a total of 18,000 participants in the previous editions. The figures of non-competitive routes such as 90 Km, 135 Km, 50 Km, BICI & CALICI, 10 km and the GRANFONDINA are obviously lower, also because as realities they are younger but proportionally growing with the constant increase of competitors.
